Final Idea:

A butler named Jeeves discovers the dark secrets of his boss, Lukyan, when he ventures into parts of the manor he was never allowed in. Jeeves then goes on to uncover the dark secrets of Lukyan's fortune and attempts to bring him to justice for his inhuman crimes.

Narrative Conventions of Horror Subgenre:

Gothic Horror:

- Weather is a commonly used aspect of gothic horror, with plentiful use of pathetic fallacy.

- Justice is a common theme, with characters often working to bring to justice those who have wronged them.

Gore/Splatter Horror:

- Heavily utilises the visceral reactions of the audience to gory, horrific situations.

- Features a lot of physical, bloody violence.

- May not have a 'happy ending'.

Expansion (Mind Map):

Story Outline:

Equilibrium - Jeeves works as a butler for Lukyan Bardoor, a very posh, upper-class millionaire. He is treated very poorly and taken advantage of in his position. One wing of Lukyan's home, Bardoor Manor, is private and off-limits to Jeeves.

Jeeves takes Lukyan to the Quartermaine Club, a local gentlemen's club, for the day and is told to return and wait for him later on, regardless of how long he has to wait. Jeeves, who needs to get Lukyan's taxes in order, gets sick of waiting and returns to the mansion while a storm begins to brew.

Disruption - Lightning strikes the flagpole of the forbidden wing of the mansion and Jeeves decides to break Lukyan's rules to make sure the small resultant fire doesn't spread. In this section of the house, he finds Lukyan has been conducting incredibly inhumaine and horrific experiments on humans but Lukyan - angry and soaked by the rain - returns before he can see everything. Lukyan locks Jeeves away when he catches him.

Recognition - Jeeves is able to escape, and manages to gather as much information on Lukyan's past and continuing experiments as possible while witnessing his crimes against humanity and avoiding detection.

Attempt at Resolution/New Equilibrium - With this evidence gathered, he attempts to leave the grounds of the mansion, but is caught by Lukyan just before he is able to. The evidence is burned and Jeeves is taken away by Lukyan, back into the mansion.

Three-Act Structure:

Act 1:

Lukyan and Jeeves' lives are established. Lukyan goes out to the Quartermaine Club and the frustrated Jeeves abandons him there to deal with tax paperwork. Lightning strikes and Jeeves decides to enter the off-limits section of the mansion.

Act 2:

Jeeves discovers the horrors of Lukyan's past and present and begins attempting to gather evidence of them which could bring him to justice.

Act 3:

Jeeves manages to obtain the final and most crucial piece of evidence and attempts to escape the mansion grounds. He fails at the last hurdle.
